3rd TOURIST Conference – Building Resilience in Uncertain Times

We are glad to announce that the TOURIST project in cooperation with the Kasetsart University, will organize and host the conference – Sustainable Tourism: Building Resilience in Uncertain Times, with an entirely online format.

After the 2nd TOURIST conference held in Bangkok last year, the 3rd TOURIST conference will be hosted by the Faculty of Business Administration, Kasetsart University. The conference will take place online on February 3rd -4th, 2021.

The goal of the 3rd TOURIST conference is to provide a lively and informal platform where a variety of questions and ideas regarding sustainable tourism, the effects and problems of the COVID-19 pandemic on sustainable tourism, and the creative solutions for tourism industry recovery can be presented and discussed by academics and other professionals in an interdisciplinary and inspiring environment.

TOURIST Progress Check Meeting

The online TOURIST progress check meeting, held on 17-18 November 2020, was organized with an aim to monitor the activities of work packages within the project. Project manager, Anita Macek opened a discussion on the following points:

  • WP3 – Equipment purchase, installment, roll out tests & documentation
  • WP4 – Operational installment of the competence centers
  • WP5 – Network contribution and joint publication
  • WP8 – Project Management

Despite COVID-19 Pandemic, our TOURIST project successfully implements all activities and keeps going well!

2nd TOURIST Conference fulfilled its goal

On April 20th -21st, 2020 the “Shaping a better future” was successfully held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The second TOURIST conference supported by the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project was hosted by the Faculty of Business Administration, Kasetsart University at the Menam Riverside Hotel. The participants who were unable to travel to Thailand due to the COVID virus pandemic had an opportunity to attend the conference online. TOURIST organizational team can be very proud of more than 100 delegates representing universities, regional institutions, and tourist organizations. It was a great success as the online participation worked out well and the planned papers were presented by the authors around the world!

The main topic of the conference was the current sustainable tourism theories and practices experienced by practitioners in different contexts implying the role of sustainable tourism in contributing to the development in social, economic, and environmental perspectives. A significant focus was placed on the impact of COVID on tourism activities in Southeast Asia.

This conference was organized at a very high level despite the difficult time of the pandemic. Many thanks to all participants and the local community for an amazing organization. It is our pleasure to announce that the conference fulfilled our expectations.

2nd TOURIST Conference in Bangkok, Thailand

We are delighted to announce that the TOURIST project in cooperation with the Kasetsart University, Thailand will organize and host the conference – Shaping a better future, in Bangkok, Thailand.

After the 1st TOURIST conferences held in Hanoi, Vietnam last year, the 2nd TOURIST conference will take place in Bangkok and hosted by the Faculty of Business Administration, Kasetsart University. The conference will take place on April 20th -21st, 2020 at Menam Riverside Hotel.

The goal of the conference is to provide a lively and informal venue where a variety of questions and ideas regarding sustainable tourism can be presented and discussed by academics and other professionals in an interdisciplinary and creative environment. The focus will be on the current sustainable tourism theories and practices experienced by practitioners in different contexts implying the role of sustainable tourism in contributing to the development in social, economic, and environmental perspectives.

For all guests who are not able to participate in the conference, due to extraordinary circumstances and COVID-19, the links for online parallel sessions will be available on our Website and Facebook page.

Sustainable Tourism Workshop in Payap

On 12 February 2020, the “Sustainable Tourism Workshop” was successfully held in Payap, Thailand.

The workshop, supported by the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project “TOURIST”, was successfully organized in the rooms at Center for Social Impacts at Payap University in Chiang Mai. Our Tourist EU project continues to successfully implement activities on developing a local network on sustainable tourism. The workshop attracted 30 external stakeholders in total from diverse universities, entrepreneurs, local government, and tourism companies.

The knowledge gathered from the workshop will be used for planning to develop consulting projects to support sustainable tourism of the community. The TOURIST team would like to thank all who attended the Sustainable Tourism Workshop and who helped to make the workshop such a great success!
